Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the challenges of her life by using her vivid and expansive imagination. Before she was able to write or read, she began to compose the songs she wrote herself. At the age of eight, she bought the first electric guitar she owned and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. She recorded her first album in the same calendar year with Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. In high school she established herself locally but dreamed about a larger stage. The day she was able to graduate from high school, it was 1964. Her first charting records on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his television show that was syndicated. Parton took the job in 1966, joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. She left Wagoner's show, but in 1974, because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations. Parton wrote I Will Always Love You in honor of Wagoner after their breakup. It reached number one. In 1974, Parton's song"I Will Never Love You reached the No.
