The parents of her are Harvey Welker who is Native American as well as Julie Welker who is African-American. The father of the family is an engineer while her mother is an agent. Walker was educated at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, graduating in 1994. After that, she went to Harvard College where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1998. Welker is wed with John Hughes of Merck Philadelphia in Philadelphia is mother to two.
